Buryatia (Ulan-ude)
Between Lake Baikal and the Mongolian border lies the city of Ulan-Ude in deep Siberia. We have two shared flats there, which can accommodate a total of around 20 people.
1999
HISTORY
In 1999, the Suckau family was sent to Siberia by Gefährdetenhilfe Scheideweg to establish a work of help for the vulnerable in the city of Ulan-Ude.
2001
After learning Russian, founding an association and starting to visit prisons, a house was purchased in 2001 in which a shared flat was to be built.
Shared apartment
The residential community developed over the next few years. People came after being released from prison and from a destroyed life. Some started a new, stable life.
2007
Development of the special-purpose operations with carpentry, waste disposal, firewood sales and the vegetable garden for own use.
In 2007, the leadership of the congregation changes. Intensive work in the torn congregation with the aim of maturing a stable group of people from a residential community and congregation who, in relationship with each other and with God, are able to survive as Christians in a completely destroyed society. And who are also able to help others.
2009
2009 Development of a rehabilitation center for the reception of people seeking help for the first few months.
2010 - 2015
2010 Sending a family to a village to start a residential community and church plant there.
2015 Return of the Suckau family to Germany. Affiliation of the work in Siberia with Gefährdetenhilfe Bad Eilsen.
From 2015, the work with the employees on site has continued to grow under the supervision of Valerie Suckau from Germany.
The picture shows the growing team on site. After their time in the shared flat, some have started families, taken on responsibility and continue the work on site.
2022
2022 Construction of a second house, where a further residential community was created.
Here you can see the newly built house next to the existing rehabilitation center.
In addition, the growing work in Ulan-Ude will now be visited from Germany in order to accompany and support it.
By living in the residential community, the employees who have grown up now have a concern for other people. They play a key role in shaping the work in the church, the residential community, the rehabilitation center, the missionary work with young people, in the hospital and the church plant in a village.
